Because Babbel’s prices do change quite frequently, here’s a quick, easy breakdown of the current Babbel costs, at a glance.

If you want to unlock all Babbel content, here are the current options:
We’ve been tracking Babbel’s costs for a long time, and the available plans and pricing keep changing. Currently, the 3-, 6-, and 12-month plans (for a single language) are available, as well as a Lifetime subscription for all languages. Unfortunately, there’s no longer a 1-month option.
Comment: Babbel has raised prices again. On the plus side, the app now has more features that justify the cost, like podcasts, minigames, and AI-based learning. More about that in our detailed review!
Author’s own opinion
“Babbel for Two,” which used to unlock all languages, is now basically the only subscription that grants two separate accounts and full access to all languages. Its pricing ranges from 11€ per month to about 20€, depending on the runtime. Not a bad deal when split between two people!
The Babbel Lifetime plan lets you unlock all of Babbel’s languages (currently 14) forever with a one-time payment. This includes the full content library and access on all devices. The cost has varied wildly over the years: we’ve seen anywhere from 179€ to 349€, currently at 299€. Your best bet is to click below to check the current price.
Even though it took some searching, Babbel’s customer support confirmed they still provide a 20-day money-back guarantee.
They’ve also rolled back the free 7-day trial. Until recently, you could spend a full week testing Babbel. If you canceled within those 7 days, there was no charge. Now, on the website, only the first lesson for each language is free. You can still get a feel for Babbel that way, but we found the old 7-day trial more user-friendly.
WARNING! App-store prices can be much higher since Babbel usually passes store fees on to the customer. So book on the website. You can still access the entire course on your phone. This way, you save real money!
Possible Payment Methods
The process is always the same: sign up at Babbel with your email address, confirm it, and then choose to pay by credit card, PayPal, or bank transfer. In Austria, EPS can be used, and in the Netherlands, iDeal or another option. (Other regions may have their own limitations.)
You can also buy Babbel in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. However, these in-app purchases often end up costing more, thanks to the extra 30% app-store fee. The Babbel site states: “Prices in the app stores and their conditions may differ.” That’s nicely phrased. If you want to save money, use the website instead.
Babbel Pricing Structure
Babbel’s basic formula: the longer you subscribe, the lower your monthly rate. You can pick a single language or get lifetime access to all languages. New as well is “Babbel for Two.”
Breaking Down Babbel’s Subscription Costs
If you sign up for three months initially, it costs €38.97 total, or €12.99/month. Six months goes for €59.94, or €9.99/month. The cheapest monthly rate is in the 12-month plan, costing €83.88 total—€6.99 per month.
But Babbel’s prices tend to keep increasing every year. For perspective: Mondly currently offers all 41 languages and courses for life for only a few euros more than Babbel’s yearly plan for one language. That’s a one-time payment. Meanwhile, you pay a year’s subscription for just one Babbel language. I have to admit, I’m not sure where Babbel is heading these days. Less features, higher cost. Babbel used to be one of our recommendations, but I’m distancing myself from that. So many better alternatives exist now.

“Babbel Live” Costs
The platform’s newest feature, Babbel Live, is basically virtual classroom instruction, somewhat similar to Rosetta Stone. Unlike Rosetta Stone, though, Babbel also allows for one-on-one lessons. There are multiple subscription models. Prices for unlimited one-on-one sessions (plus group access) look like this:

We previously removed the entire section on Babbel’s money-back guarantee because their website hardly mentions it. Only in the purchase flow (and confirmed by Babbel support) do we see they still offer a 20-day money-back guarantee.
Alongside the first free lesson, you can test Babbel and decide if it’s worth the cost to you personally.
The Trial Week and Free Testing
Babbel also used to offer a trial week, though you had to pick a subscription up front, which would start automatically if you didn’t cancel within those 7 days.
That’s basically the same “catch” as with the money-back guarantee. You pay in advance and then contact Babbel for a refund if you’re not satisfied. In some ways, the trial week was simpler since you could cancel the trial sub easily. It’s too bad that’s no longer offered.
Free Testing Without Paying
Babbel used to heavily promote the trial week, but in our tests, you could often exit the subscription screen and access the main lessons anyway.
You can stay in that free mode indefinitely, but it only includes the first lesson of each language course. It’s up to you whether that’s enough to gauge Babbel for yourself.

So, is Babbel worth it? Our answer matches our verdict in the full Babbel review. The cost-to-value ratio is acceptable, especially for the Lifetime plan, considering the range of content. Babbel is definitely worth checking out if you want to learn a language.
Though Babbel’s pricing structure has changed, the 20-day money-back guarantee and free first lesson let you test-drive Babbel. It’s a great way to see if the cost is justified for your personal needs.
I do have to say, though, Babbel used to be a much better deal. You got more features for less money. Meanwhile, new services like Mondly have outpaced Babbel, especially in motivation and value for money. I really hope Babbel returns to its roots. Until then, it sits a bit lower in our Top 10 language-course list.
